Franco-german-greek performance project about populism and democraty

Clear the Stage

The organizations Peuple et Culture (Paris), Zukunst e.V (Berlin) and Arpeggio (Thessaloniki) invite all young people living in France, Germany and Greece to take part in the first part of our project "Clear the Stage" which will take place from the 1st to the 8th of April 2022 at the castle of Bröllin in Germany.

What is it?

Clear the Stage is a Franco-German-Greek performance project in which we propose to the participants to follow and take part in the whole process of creation of a multidisciplinary theater piece (writing of the text, small choreographic creation, theatrical performance etc.). ). The play will focus on the issue of populism and its impact on our way of thinking. In this first part, it will be mainly about approaching this theme by using dance and theater: how can we deconstruct our discourses in order to offer ourselves a greater space of freedom.

The program includes several dance and theater workshops that will allow us to get to know each other and to discuss the subject of populism, linguistic animations (games based on the language of the partner countries), workshops from popular education in order to approach these questions from another angle, as well as an excursion to Berlin.

Where and when?

1st part: April 1 to 8, 2022 at Bröllin Castle (Germany)

2nd part: October 29 to 5, 2022 in the vicinity of Marseille (exact location still to be defined)

3rd part: March 17 to 26, 2023 in Thessaloniki (Greece)

From September, during 6 weeks, weekly scenic writing workshops will take place in the evening online in order to write the play. Systematic participation in these workshops is recommended. A detailed schedule will be communicated after the first part of the project.

Who can participate?

* All people living in France, Germany or Greece between 18 and 30 years old.

* No pre-requisites are necessary, but it is important that participants have a certain interest in the performing arts in general, and in theater and dance in particular.
